Memorial Weekend & Strawberry Picking

With the long holiday weekend, and no real place to go, we decided to pull the camper out to the property and do a little camping.  Shawn got called in to work on Saturday, so we didn't get out there until dinner time.  It was a gorgeous night, and the girls of course love playing in the camper.  Some of our neighbors came out to join us grilling, and we just had a nice time chit-chatting around the campfire while toasting marshmallows and watching the kids play.  It is so quiet and peaceful out there!

Sunday morning we woke up and decided to go pick strawberries.  Strawberries are my favorite fruit, and the girl's too I think, so we had lots of fun.  This was Hailey's first year of picking with us, and she did great!  She was so excited and did such a good job.  Evertyime she saw a ripe one she got really excited.  Amazingly she didn't even try to eat a single berry while we were picking!  Taylor on the other hand was not as restrained!  I think she ate far more than she put in the flat.  When we were finished, Mommy and Hailey picked a little under 13 lbs, and Daddy and Taylor picked just over 10 lbs.  It's amazing how much a difference it can make when you put the berries in the flat as opposed to your belly!  Once she realized we were done picking, we had to keep our eyes on little miss fast hands Hailey, because she kept stealing them out of the flat!  At one point, since mom and dad were blocking her attempts, she tried to take some out of someone else's flat!

We then came home, ate some lunch and took some much needed naps.  The evening was spent playing, doing a little fishing, watching the Princess and the Frog, and eating homemade strawberry shortcake!  Life's pretty rough.  Memorial day itself has been rather quite, which is okay, considering we need the rest!  We hope all of you have had a safe and happy weekend!
