Elk Hunting 2013

Well it is that time of year again - the air has started to get a little crisp, and winter weather is on the horizon.  Fall is my favorite time of year, and Shawn's as well.  Although we miss the N Wisconsin falls, we are fortunate to live in a beautiful state with an abundance of pretty views, not to mention an abundance of wildlife one can hunt come fall (part of the reason Shawn loves fall so much!).

Once again I have an elk archery tag, and this year Shawn has one as well.  We again packed up the kids, dogs, and camper and spent several weekends hunting.  Although we didn't get anything, we did have a fairly close encounter with a couple bull elk, which was just as cool.  We hunted the same area as last year, and although we didn't see as much elk sign as the prior year, we did see lots of bear sign (check out the paw print below), heard of several mountain lion sightings, and heard of a rattlesnake encounter!  I don't know about Shawn, but that was a little too much wildlife for me!
