Well we made the exhausting trip up to Havre this past week to do a little exploring and some house hunting. The drive was a little tedious, two full days each way, but our little troopers (Taylor, Hailey, and Maggie) did amazing! We are always amazed at the maturity of the girls and their abilities to handle new situations. Although it got long towards the end of the trip both ways, they did so well. Maggie too didn't even whine during the long car rides. What a good bunch we have.
As was expected, the scenery was amazing! On the way up we went through Cheyenne, Wyoming on up through Sheridan and then Billings on up. It is stunning around Sheridan, Wyoming with the Bighorn mountains. There was no shortage of wildlife either, as we saw a ton of antelope, pheasants, and a herd of elk.
We had an open day to explore prior to the start of house hunting, so we used it to drive all around Havre. One of the first things we checked out is Beaver Creek Recreation area. This county park is the largest in the country, at 10,000 acres. The park includes the Bear Paw Mountains which are just beautiful. All of the mountains we saw were still snow topped, which added to the beauty. We enjoyed walking around with the girls and Maggie. In fact, we ended up going there for at least a little bit of time everyday. It is just amazing to think that you can pull off the road anywhere in there and just start walking in whatever direction you want, with your dog - off a leash - without anyone batting an eye. There is going to be a lot of fun to come!
The house hunting was very exhausting to say the least, but I think we found one, or actually two if we could just decide! We did put an offer in on a house and should find out hopefully within a day or two. Although we put an offer in on one, we are still torn about the other house. I will go into more detail on the one we purchase in another blog - when it is all finalized.
We also had some time to check out Taylor's new school for the fall, as well as pick-up Parks & Rec info for the summer. The girls loved swimming in the pool (of course) and they had a blast with Maggie. It ended up being such a neat thing to have her with us too. She slept on the bed everynight with the girls - most of the time on the pillows!
All in all, I think it was a really good trip and has only made us more excited to start living there!
