Unfortunately elk hunting for weekend number 2 was a complete bust. We didn't see a single elk (where we were hunting that is). While hunting Saturday morning we saw a fresh rub, and plenty of elk sign, but not a thing. For the second weekend in a row it was up in the mid to high 80's, so that might have been part of the problem.
Since we were not seeing any elk where we were hunting, we drove down the road to the Slippery Ann Elk Viewing Area in the CMR. The elk are protected in this little strip, so they gather there by the hundreds, literally! The girls thought it was really cool to hear them and see them so close. There were some big bulls in there too! Of course not a single one was straying from the protected area! The pictures and videos are pretty cool, so enjoy! (I was shooting video with the camera and was zoomed in about as far as it would go, thus it is a little more shaky than I would like. Sorry!).
