Although we didn't get completely skunked like last weekend, we still have not gotten close enough to any elk to get a shot. We did, however, see several groups of bulls on Saturday morning, and then again Saturday evening (Shawn was scouting by himself). Shawn was drawn to them by the noise of hearing them spar with one another. By the time he was able to spot where they were the bulls had stopped fighting. Maybe next time we will get to see that! We figured out how to get where they were for Sunday morning, only to be outplayed by weather! It was pretty windy and spitting a little bit of rain here and there, so the elk were no where to be seen.
The weekend was not completely unsuccessful, as we did get ourselves a new camper! We decided that if we were going to be doing more activities such as this, we really did need/want a nicer place to stay in. We upgraded from the toy-hauler pop-up, to the toy-hauler camper. It is really nice!! The camper has a bunk bed in the front for the girls, and then a hard slide King bed out the back. The girls were super excited to have a new camper to sleep/play in, and I was happy to have a little more room, a quieter night sleep, and a more comfortable bed.
Shawn is on call this next weekend, so we won't be going out hunting at all. Two weeks from now though we will be back out and hopefully the bulls will be in full rut then. Stay tuned!
