Our over-achiever

Although this post is a little late in coming, is it ever too late to brag about your child?!!  We are soooo extremely proud of Taylor and how well she is doing in school and with her reading.  I don't think that there are two parents who could think more highly of their child or her capabilities.  We had parent-teacher conferences about a month ago, and we learned that not only is Taylor doing very well with math, writing, etc, she is also reading at about a 2nd grade level!  She amazes us at times with the things she is able to comprehend and sound out.

Not only is she doing very well in school, but she has also been in the local paper - not once, but twice!  The first time was for being the kindergarten reading contest winner.  Out of the 100+ kids in kindergarten, she read the most books!  She got her picture in the paper, as well as five new books that she picked out at the local bookstore.  The Havre School Superintendent even wrote her a congratulations card - which she thought was pretty cool.  It was really neat to see how excited she was, and for her to have the recognition for something that she did all on her own!

The second time she was in the paper was after agriculture day.  The local journalist was asking the students what they learned about agriculture and Taylor was one of the students they chose to highlight.  When I told her she was going to be in the paper again (within about a month of the other article), she was impressed, "Wow, I will have been in the paper twice?!!!  That is sooooo cool!"

The school year isn't done yet, so we will see if she can make it in there another time!  Definitely an over-achiever in the making!
