We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area where we can experience in an extended weekend what some people come from all over the world to see!
Shawn had a staff meeting down in Red Lodge this past week, so we packed up the kids and camper and headed down a little early. Although we didn't make it all the way in to Yellowstone like we had hoped (just too far to drive), we did do the Beartooth Highway. It is such a beautiful drive, with breathtaking views around every turn! We got very fortunate in that we were able to get pretty close to a herd of mountain goats.
One of the most exciting parts of the trip was our close encounter with our first moose! Yes, it was our first one. We have driven all over the state, hoping to see some moose, and we just happened upon one while casting a line and having a picnic at Wild Bill Lake. Shawn and the girls got pretty close to it, as you can see from the pictures. It was really cool!
The trip ended with a fun visit with Beepa, Grandma Julie, and family, as they drove up to Red Lodge while on their Yellowstone/Mt. Rushmore trip. We had a very nice time catching up, and the girls especially had fun doing arts and crafts with their aunties!
We are definitely blessed!
