Visiting Family and Santa

Last weekend we had a nice little get-away. Shawn took Friday off, and we went to Des Moines to see our new little niece, and cousin, Kirsten, as well as spend some time playing with Drake. The girls had a blast playing non-stop with Drake. They were both knocked out at naptime and bedtime. Hailey was enthralled with Kirsten and loved just sitting and watching her. She was very gentle and was very careful to touch only the top of her head. She kept telling me, "Mommy she coot. Coot baby." We had a really nice time visiting and just watching the kids play. Hopefully we can do it again soon.
We got home mid-afternoon Saturday, just in time for naps and then it was on to see Santa. Our town had a little Christmas celebration Saturday with cookie decorating, Santa, and a tree lighting ceremony. As soon as we walked inside the door Hailey couldn't take her eyes off Santa. She seemed very interested in him, but was totally unwilling to go anywhere near him. Although we wanted a picture, we didn't push it. Taylor, on the other hand, could hardly wait to get her coat off. She then marched right up to Santa, climbed on his lap and began telling him what she wanted. It was all business. Now it would just be nice if we could convince her that Santa doesn't know everytime she changes her mind, and can't buy her everything her little mind comes up with!
